The Big Five
OCEAN: the most researched model of personality
The model personality science trusts most: five broad traits, ten finer aspects, and a portrait of where you stand out.
This test measures the five broad traits that personality researchers rely on more than any other model: Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism, each split into two finer aspects.
Character Strengths
Your signature strengths among the 24 virtues of character
Which of the twenty-four classic character strengths come most naturally to you? Discover your signature strengths and the virtue they add up to.
Positive psychology asks a different question from most personality tests: not what is wrong with you, or which type you are, but what is best in you. This test measures twenty-four character strengths, from curiosity and bravery to kindness, fairness, self-regulation and hope, and groups them into six virtues valued across the world's moral traditions.
Light & Dark Triad
Strategy, ego and edge... and their light counterparts
Everyone has a little scheming, showing off and mischief in them, and a streak of decency too. Map your dark side and your light side, and see how they live together.
Everyone has a little strategy, ego and edge, and most of us also carry a steady streak of decency. This test looks at both sides. On the dark side it measures four everyday traits that psychologists call the Dark Tetrad: strategic self-interest, the appetite for admiration, cool-headed thrill-seeking and a taste for other people's minor discomfort. On the light side it measures the three traits of the Light Triad: treating people as ends in themselves, valuing everyone's dignity, and faith in humanity.
Emotional Intelligence
Read, manage and use emotions, yours and others'
How well do you read, manage and use emotions? Explore Goleman's five domains and find your strongest one.
Emotional intelligence is the set of skills that lets you notice, understand and work with emotions, your own and other people's. This test follows Daniel Goleman's five domains: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skill. It shows which domain is your strongest, how the five compare, and where you have the most room to grow.
Humor Style
Affiliative, self-enhancing, aggressive or self-defeating?
Do you joke to connect, to cope, to cut or to cover? Discover how you use humor and what it does for you.
Everyone laughs, but not everyone uses humor the same way. Some people joke to bring others together, some to keep their own spirits up, some to tease, and some to make themselves the punchline. This test maps which of these four humor styles you lean on, and where your humor sits between serving yourself and serving your relationships, and between gentle and biting.
Highly Sensitive Person
Orchid, tulip or dandelion?
Some people take in the world at a higher volume. Measure your sensory processing sensitivity and see which flower you are.
About a third of people process the world more deeply than the rest: they notice subtleties, are moved by beauty, and feel overstimulated sooner. Psychologists call this sensory processing sensitivity. It is a temperament trait, found in many species, and neither a flaw nor a disorder.
Chronotype
Lark, owl or something in between?
Is your body clock set for dawn or for midnight, and how easily does it bend? Find your bird of the day and how to plan your hours around it.
Your chronotype is the timing your body clock prefers: when you naturally wake, peak, fade and fall asleep. This test also looks at how flexible your rhythm is and how soundly you sleep, and matches you with one of five birds of the day and night.
For self-reflection and curiosity, not diagnosis. Scores describe how you answered, relative to the possible range; they are not compared with population norms.
